Bullet 42
Unreal Engine 4.
1 week development time.
Gameplay Systems programmer.
Bullet 42 was our project for the one-week-long company game jam made by three other interns, the chief of staff, and myself. You can also download and play this yourself as this is publically released on itch.io/bullet42.
"In Bullet42 you control a high-tech bullet, that has one goal - kill the supreme general of an invading army. Move your body around to control the bullet and evade all obstacles on the battlefield in order to reach your target in this fast-paced VR masterpiece of a game."
What is Bullet 42
My responsibilities
As this was a game jam it started off with us sitting as a group and coming up with concepts, everyone gave out some creative ideas and we ended up with 3 concepts that then the entire company could vote on which they wanted to see developed or join development themselves.
For this game jam, the team consisted of 2 programmers, a designer, an artist, and our chief of staff who did voice acting and sound design.
As one of the programmers I primarily focused on these tasks while the other programmer focussed on other aspects:
- Experiment/prototype different starting positions (pre-placed gun or free movement with the gun).
- Set up tools and systems for different spawn points and targets.
- Set up an interactable main menu environment (physical buttons etc.).
- Create a scope that would dynamically zoom depending on gun orientation.
- Add support for multiple targets at once.
- Add guidance highlights to targets.
- Create time scale adjustments tool used for bullet and target mode.
